FMP PLAN FOR APRIL

After the Portfolio and Promotion deadline it was important for me to get on track for FMP and sort out what I had to do next to complete everything on time.

I wrote a list (what I do best) of my next few steps that are a main priority:

First of all I needed to consider the digitally printed fabric and how much time I would need to send away my file to get something printed-  I decided to go with The Silk Bureau as I have worked with them before and know that this time of year can be busy with other students sending in work. Their turn around time can be around 2 weeks if they are having a busy period, so that's something I would want to send off as soon as possible. To get the ball rolling on this I need to contact Claire (manager at the Silk Bureau) and ask for a price/fabric list, and to also organise dropping in and picking up some printed fabric swatches so I can pick which fabric out of their collection will best suit the fabric I have been printing on so far.

As well as this I need to arrange the files I want printed, and also make a repeat all over pattern to get printed too. For this it is important that I remember any images I need to scan in has to be scanned in at a high DPI, just in case I want to enlarge the images to fit onto the fabric (which is usually around 1.4m wide by how ever many metres I want printed- so a lot of space to cover!). I also need to check that any tiles I make repeat seamlessly, and don't leave any white lines, misalignment etc when put into repeat.

Then the rest of the list are jobs I can get on with myself- I need to start printing lino/wood cuts onto fabric to see if it works properly/ looks good enough for the costume, as well as finish making the bear head/ prepare the fabrics that I want to use for the bear head (in this case possibly squares of woven fabric). To prepare for the actually sewing together of the patches I need to get my sewing machine fixed, and also start thinking about the book to go with the costume.

** The extra point at the bottom is about an 'extra curricular' project which I want to do- based on a poem about knitting.
