MAKING THE RUFF

To really emphasise that the bear is tame and a dancing one, I wanted to make a ruff to go around it's neck. I think it also shows another skill that I can do, and will also look quite whimsical. I have also drawn a lot of ruffs in my illustrations, so I think it will be best to try and stay cohesive!

I started off small by using mini cake cakes, folding them into cones and stringing them together to make a small ruff- big enough for a toy hare:

This was simple enough and effective- so I went forward and make a big version out of baking parchment sheets. I ran out of baking parchment, and to give a variety of texture I decided to include some white netting to go in-between the paper cones.

However, I will try and get the ruff completed for the exhibition as I don't have time to finish it for the deadline. I do think the bear costume looks fine without the ruff, but I would like to add it so it makes it obvious it's a dancing bear and it ties in with my previous illustrations.
